This drill teaches the basic skill of running on to a pass and shooting without trapping or controlling the ball.
Place one cone or marker about 20 yards (or 20 meters) in front of the goal. Player B (red) stands next to this cone. Place a second cone about 5 yards (or 5 meters) from the first cone as shown by the orange circles in the picture below. Player A (blue) stands next to the second cone.
1) Player A (blue) starts by passing the ball to Player B (red.) At the same time Player A starts to run forward in a straight line.
2) Player B (red) controls the ball and then quickly passes the ball in front of Player A.
3) Player A runs to the ball and takes a one-touch shot on the goal. Player A does not try to control the ball before shooting it. Player A should aim for either side of the goal and should try to avoid shooting the ball down the center of the goal. Perform this drill at least 3 times then switch roles between Player A and Player B.
4-6) Now repeat the drill on the other side as shown in the below 3 pictures.
