The first step in using the Guruvi Swimming app is to add a user (i.e. Swimmer) on the “Users” Tab. Then select the user that you would like to time and go to the “Race” tab to start a new race. Press the “Start” button to start the timer and the “Stop” button to stop the timer. You can then choose to clear or save the result. The “Race” tab also shows the best time and the average time the user has logged in for the particular race. At any time go to the “Stats” tab to see your best time and average time for each type of race that you captured. Touching the best time or average time, then displays another table that shows all the individual results for that particular type of race.
To add a user (Swimmer) touch the “+” button on the “Users” tab and enter name and information for the user. To select a user, simply touch the name of the user on the “Users” tab and a checkmark will appear next to the name. Then the race time information that you capture or statistics that you view on the other tabs will be for the selected user. You may update a user’s information by touching “Edit” on the “Users” tab then touching the desired user. A sheet is then shown with the current user information that you may edit and save.
A user from the “Users” tab must first be selected. Touch the “Start” button on the “Race” tab and the timer will start and the “Start” button will change to a “Stop” button. Note that once the timer is started, it will continue to run even if you quit the app. Touch the “Stop” button and the timer will stop. Now a “Reset” and “Save” button will be displayed. Touching the “Save” button results in the time being saved, the timer is set to zero, and the “Start” button is displayed for starting a new race. Touching the “Reset” button discards the results of the race, sets timer back to zero, and displays the “Start” button.
Once the Timer is started, it can be locked, using the “Lock Timer” switch, to prevent accidental touches of the “Stop” button or other buttons. This is especially useful for long distance races.
The race type information consists of the distance of the race, the stroke type, whether it is a relay, and if it is on a short course (25 meter pool) or long course (50 meter pool.) This information along with the date of the race can be changed by touching the “Change” button next to the description of the race. A view is then shown that allows editing of the information.
After a race is started and then stopped, you have the option of manually changing the result of the race. Touch the “Edit” button next to the timer result and a view is then shown that allows editing of the information.
Selecting the “Stats” tab displays all the different race types that have been captured for the selected user. For each of the race types, the average and the best time (record) are shown. You can scroll down to see all the different race types captured. Touching the average or the record time of a particular race type will display the individual races and the corresponding time of each of those races. In this view you can delete individual races.
Users can be deleted from the “Users” tab by touching the “Edit” button in the upper left side of the screen then touching the round red button next to the item to be deleted and then touching the “Delete” button. When a user is deleted, all associated data are also deleted.
The Coach tab connects you to the app’s webpage, which requires an Internet connection, where you may find additional information and tips for using the app.
